A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos today ordered Funke Akindele and her husband to pay a fine of N100,000, undertake community service for 14 days and be kept in isolation in a place to be determined by the state government for violating the social distancing directive of the Lagos State government.
Akindele and her husband, music star Abdul Rasheed Bello, were Monday morning arraigned by the Lagos State Government for alleged violation of the lockdown order to check the spread of coronavirus.
The couple was arraigned at the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba.
They pleaded guilty to the one count filed against them by the Attorney General of Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN).
They are awaiting the verdict of the magistrate.
The trial was not without drama, as a shouting match ensued at the Chief Magistrates Court after court officials refused lawyers representing actres Akindele and her husband, JJC Skillz, access into the court room.
Out of the four lawyers that are to represent the actress and her hubby, only two were finally allowed into the court room after much argument.
The couple are being arraigned for breaching the Lagos Infection Diseases Regulations 2020 (the Regulations) for holding a house party despite the lockdown at their Amen estate home on Saturday April 5th.
