Nigeria’s Super Eagles, in one of its worst ever performance, let slip a four goal lead to draw 4-4 with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.
It was the African Cup of Nations qualifier which took place in Benin City on Friday, 13 November, 2020.
The Eagles started the match like a house on fire: Alex Iwobi opened scoring as early as the 4th minute of the match while Napoli hitman, Victor Osimhen doubled the score in the 12th minute while Iwobi netted his second of the night in the 17th. When Samuel Chukwueze scored a wonderful solo effort to make it four in the 22 minute, many thought the Sierra Leoneans will go with baskeful of goals.
Then the fight back started and the Leone Stars got their first goal before the end of the first half. They then pulled back the three goal deficit in the second half to draw level and leave the Nigerians wondering what just happened.
