Ajimobi goes home today, won’t be buried inside mosque

The controversy over the final resting place for former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has been resolved and his bksy will finally be buried today in Ibadan according to Muslim rites.

A family friend and leader of the Muslim community in Ibadan, Alhaji Kunle Sanni shared the news early this morning.

He wrote:

Alhamdulilah, the rigmarole surrounding where Alhaj Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi would be buried has been resolved. Prayer on his remains would be at Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Mosque at 11am. HE WOULD NOT BE BURIED IN THE MOSQUE.
Internment would be in one of his houses which I don’t have the authority to mention. If there is need for that, the family would do so. Only few people would be admitted in the Mosque because of the Corona virus protocol. Let brothers and sisters who have no invitation stay at home and pray for the repose of the soul of this benefactor of the Muslim Ummah.
Once again I thank all brothers and sisters for their concern. Let me state that the Muslim community of Oyo state were only admonishing, sermonising , advocating and advising based on the Shariah. Final decision is beyond us. If we had our way he would be buried in one of the Muslim Makbaras (cemeteries) scattered all over Ibadan but that would be a tall dream. That is where all of us would wish to be buried. Let us continue praying that Allah be Merciful on us and halt this pandemic
Thanks for your patience and perseverance
