Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Thursday intensified his senatorial ambition with ward to ward campaign to his senatorial district.
Amosun who is contesting the Ogun Central Senatorial district under the All Progressives Congress (APC) kicked off the campaign in Obafemi Owode local government, one of the local councils under the district by meeting all the people of the 10 wards under the local council.
Speaking at Owoowo ward 9, the same ward from where he contested the senatorial seat in 2003, Amosun said there so much work to be in the district in terms of road infrastructure and development.
He promised to facilitate developmental projects to the district if elected.
His words: “Well, you have seen this place. What I think they needed most here is their roads…you know it is so easy for people to sit somewhere and be saying the whole of Ogun Central is done. You’ve seen what we see today.
”Everywhere is bad. Ogun State was not created today. Everywhere is bad and that’s why we must start somewhere.
“So, when people sit somewhere and say the whole of Ogun central we done. You see the road we came through, but there is no one that can do it all.
”The one that we have done, we will do the other ones that we have not done. So, we are promising them that we are going to bring them dividends of Democracy. Dividends of democracy is so vague, but if we want to talk in concrete terms, in this place, they need road badly. And we have told them that we will do it. This is an agrarian community”, he stated.
While soliciting their votes in all the wards, Amosun appealed to the electorates not to trade their Permanent Voter Cards for monetary gains saying some politicians will come deceiving them.
He said: “Our struggle is that of liberation, nobody can come and enslave us in Ogun State and that is why we must be ready and liberate ourselves with our PVC.
“Don’t trade tour PVC with anybody, it is your power and if you’ve not collected, go and collect the PVC, because the only way to liberate yourselves is through the PVC.
“Don’t be deceived into trading your PVC, they will come with promise of loans and grants requesting for your PVC number, tell them they are thrives and criminals, ask them where they have been since all these years that they are now coming on the eve of the election.”
Some of the constituents who spoke said they would vote for the Governor.
