Bet9ja backs Nigerian Powerlifting Champion to success in USA

Nigeria’s Kareem “Body” Waheed has emerged the overall best in his category after competing with athletes from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas at the recently concluded AAU Powerlifting and Weightlifting Championship held in Las Vegas, USA.

The much-anticipated competition, a yearly competition that admits elite powerlifting athletes across the world, kicked off with a warm up session by all the participants followed by the gradual knock out stage which Nigerian-based Waheed emerged as the winner of the gold medal.

The competition took place from 7th to 9th April had over 50 participants competing and over 2000 individuals gearing them up or more on a daily basis.

Speaking to the media about this accomplishment, Chairman of Bet9ja the sole sponsor of the gold-medal winning power-lifter, Mr. Kunle Soname had this to say: “We have spotted a rare talent in this young man and that’s why we decided to support him and this belief has paid off. We would like to take him further to win the World Championship in September and maybe even further.”

Kareem also qualified to the next stage of the World Powerlifting & Weightlifting Championship being held in September at Las Vegas.
