Women affairs minister Aisha Alhassan has resigned from the President Muhamamdu Buhari’s cabinet.
She has also resigned her membership of All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unfair treatment.
“I write with a lot of respect to inform Mr. President of my decision to resign my appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Alhassan stated in her resignation letter.
She was one of a couple of governorship aspirants that the APC stopped from contesting in the party’s primaries. The other, Minister of Communications, Bayo Shittu, is also protesting his exclusion.
Alhassan became embroiled in controversy early in the year when she said she would not supported a second term bid by Buhari and would rather work for PDP chieftain, Atiku Abubakar.
