The joy of pupils and teachers of some selected schools in Ogun State knew no bounds as Pega and Friends Foundation celebrated the Children’s Day with them.
The Foundation celebrates Children’s Day with a mission statement to help less-privileged children in Nigeria achieve their maximum potentials.
As part of this mission, the Foundation championed by Prince Ekunola Gbenga Abraham visited five schools in Ogun state to celebrate the occasion of the children’s day. Members of the Foundation who came from all corners of the country where seen having fun with the pupils as well as charging them for a better tomorrow.
Among the beneficiaries schools are: Students with Special Needs (Handicapped) Primary School Ilaro; Students with Special Needs (Handicapped) Egbado College Ilaro; Yewa North Primary School, Ebute, Yewa north; United African Methodist Church School Eleja Pahayi (school 1), Yewa South and United African Methodist Church School Eleja Pahayi (school 2), Yewa South.
Pega and Friends Foundation put smiles on the faces of about 5,000 kids, as educational relief materials were presented to the pupils present in the school during the celebration.
Ekunola, speaking through the Chairperson of the Social Committee of the foundation, Madam Sunmisola Adeyemi, said he was delighted to deliver on the mission of the Foundation by giving back to less-privileged kids in the society.
He said he was never in doubt of the potentials that less-privileged kids possess, but added that for them to attain their full potentials they must be supported by well-meaning individuals in the society and corporate bodies.
Head Teacher of UAMC ELEJA Pahayi (School 1), Mrs Omolusi F. O thanked Pega for remembering pupils of her school, saying that it was a unique gesture being extended to them. Omolusi urged successful Nigerians to help the needy ones in the society, warning that failure to do such would only increase the number of delinquents in the land.
Mrs Oderinde O. B, Head Teacher of UAMC ELEJA Pahayi (School II) expressed gratitude to the Foundation. ”We thank Gbenga Ekunola and his friends for this kind gesture and hope that others will emulate him so that the future of these little ones will be brighter”, said Oderinde.
Proprietress of School for Special Children, Mrs Babatunde said that though Special Children have been neglected in the society, Pega and Friends Foundation should praised for associating with them since last year.
The atmosphere was no different at Egbado College, as students with special needs were happy to receive the foundation.
Mr Sunday E.O the Head Teacher of Yewa North Primary School Ebute; lauded the kind gesture of the Pega and friends Foundation, describing it as safe our souls intervention.
Ekunola, who is also the Coordinator of Yewa Connecting Minds hails from Pahayi. The Foundation also visited Stella Obasanjo motherless babies home in Ibara Abeokuta; Ibadan Home for Motherless Babies, Agodi Prisons Ibadan, IJAMIDO Children’s Home Lagos and some other schools.
