In what could be described as service to humanity, the Treasure House of God, Quarry, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, distributed food items to over 6,000 people to celebrate Christmas.
When our correspondent visited the premises of the church, it was learnt that beneficiaries, both Muslims and Christians, were seated since 6am to have their own share of the food items.
Whike speaking to journalists, the Chairman of the Jesus Feast Committee of the Church, Deacon Kayode Ogunjimi, said Jesus was the reason for the season, saying the church was doing it’s part on evangelism.
Ogunjimi explained that the church deemed it fit to give out to people who does not have the means to celebrate the Christmas, adding that the church had been doing such for the past three years.
“What we are doing is just about evangelism . Jesus is the reason for the season .its our annual programme for the church where we give to people who don’t have means to celebrate the Christmas .
“Treasure House of God has been doing this for over three years whereby we feed over four thousand and this year with the crowd we have, we have over 6,000 and God will feed everybody and it’s just one thing, that is evangelism .
“Christmas is all about Jesus, so many people don’t have the resources to celebrate this day .the church has deem it fit to give them token, which is rice and meat , so that they can go home and celebrate with their family ,” he said.
The committee chairman called on all other well meaning individuals , groups and organisations to venture into such gesture in order to support the needy.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Mary Oyinloye and Mr James Adigun, thanked God for using the church to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged.
They called on other churches to cultivate same habit.
