Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has congratulated Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on their successful inauguration as President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, respectively.
Dickson, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, on Friday in Yenagoa, wished the new president and his vice success in piloting the affairs of the country in the next four years.
The governor also assured the president of the support and active collaboration of the government and people of the state in the interest of the nation.
“The Government of Bayelsa State wishes President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo a successful tenure as President and Vice President of our great nation, Nigeria.
“As a government, we appreciate the fact that only a man with a firm vision and love for his country could undertake such a long journey, notwithstanding the rigours of preceding unsuccessful attempts.
“ Your doggedness and uncompromising posture of always standing for what is right, just, equitable and fair, will no doubt, serve as key drivers in your administration’s quest to deliver on the various lofty electoral promises.
“It is against this backdrop that we wish both you and your able vice, good health, vigour and the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the nation in the next four years.
“In the same vein, we also join millions of Nigerians and the international community in commending and applauding the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for a smooth transition,’’ Dickson said.
He noted that Jonathan had left behind a legacy that guarantees the sustenance of democracy, as well as the stability of the country.
The governor assured that the state government would work closely with the Buhari administration and rally support of the people to remain committed to the unity, stability and prosperity of Nigeria.
He expressed the hope that going by the time tested antecedents of President Buhari, he would build on what his predecessors achieved in terms of promoting peaceful coexistence and even development.
He said the people of the state were encouraged by the president’s pronouncement at his inauguration that he belonged to everybody and belonged to nobody.
The governor described the statement as an indication that the president would be fair to all sections of the country.
