It is fair to say many Chelsea supporter were left stunned at the nature of the club’s supine loss to Burnley in the first game of the season, but now’s not the time for doom and gloom as one of the club’s biggest legends has pointed out.
While he’s out in the US scoring on a regular basis for Phoenix, Didier Drogba has not forgetten his first love and is now acting as a Premier League life coach on social media.
When confronted about his beloved Chelsea’s opening day 3-2 home loss to Burnley by his current club, Phoenix Rising, Drogba took off his coat, sat down in his chair and bestowed some wisdom on them and anyone who’s panicking after one match:
Didier’s calm and rational response to today’s disappointing result is exactly the type of level-mindedness everyone needs to exhibit. Chelsea may have a history of following up great seasons with letdowns, but the second half against Burnley showed that this team is ready to fight. The result wasn’t pretty, but there are 37 more matches to play.
If Alvaro Morata continues to provide the dynamism reminiscent of Drogba himself up front, as he did in his sub appearance today, there’s no reason to worry.
