The Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, would soon established Application Development Centre, Rector of the institution, Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka said on Wednesday.
Oyeyinka disclosed this while speaking with newsmen shortly after the 12th matriculation ceremony of the institution at the School premises in Isara, Remo North Local Government of Ogun State.
He stated that the centre would be used to train students to develop simple mobile applications.
The Rector noted that the institution usually embarked on researches on simple ICT based investments and innovation that could turn economy of individual and the country around.
“This is an ICT Institution, what we do here is to do researches on simple ICT based investments and innovation that can turn economy of individual and the country around.
“Currently we are working at establishing Application Development Centre where we can train the students to develop simple mobile application that they can use and generates some fund for themselves and we sell internationally, ” he said.
He added that the institution was fully accredited under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and had experienced a lot of tremendous transformation since established.
Oyeyinka urged the students to shun all social vices such as examination malpractices and cultism, adding that those that engaged in it would face expulsion.
Mrs Modupe Mujota, the Ogun Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, said that the state government would continue to consistently advance the cause of education.
Mujota advised the students to focus on discipline, dedication, determination and diligence, saying that those were the keys that would facilitate their academic success.
The commissioner advised the students to embark on further research in order to enhance their knowledge in the subject area and position them to global competitiveness.
