He had written asking the Inspector-general of police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu, to release him on bail from police custody, but Adamu instead ordered withdrawal of policemen attached to Mr Ibrahim Magu, former acting chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A police source disclosed told journalists on Friday that officers guarding the official and personal houses of Magu have been withdrawn.
In a signal to the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), PMF squadrons 1 to 79 and the Force Secretary, Adamu directed redeployment of the mobile policemen at EFCC.
While ordering those withdrawn to report at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday morning, IGP said only staff of EFCC should be allowed access into the commission’s premises.
Magu was arrested on Monday and whisked to the presidential villa in Abuja where he is being grilled by the panel headed by Mr Ayo Salami, a retired president of the appeal court.
