The Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogun State chapter on Wednesday expressed deep worry over what it described as desperation of the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to install his preferred candidate, Adekunle Akinlade as his successor.
Amosun, though an APC Governor, has declared his unflinching support, both moral and financial to Akinlade, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
In fact the Governor said on Monday that he would embark on full campaign for APM towards the March 9 Governorship race.
The APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye who spoke to Journalists in Abeokuta yesterday said “For the governor to be supporting APM, I just want to say that it is a sign of ingratitude for our members of APC that were persuaded to work for him, support him by Chief Olusegun Aremu Osoba (former Governor of Ogun State ).
“It is now open that he (Amosun) is not sincere in his touted support for Buhari, APM has his own presidential candidate in the last election who scored 36,000 votes nation wide. 33,000 out of the 36,000 votes came from Ogun state.  This simply means 33,000 APM people voted against Buhari in Ogun state despite the loyalty and first son of Buhari being touted by the governor”.
“We are now telling our people that in the next election, there is no sharing of votes, it is APC at the governorship and state Assembly level.”
He decried the security situation in the State, describing it as worrisome, disclosing that since October last year, they had sent petition to the appropriate quarters, asking them to strengthen the security situation in the state but that has not been done.
“If the president can be stoned in broad daylight and no arrest was made, how are you going to pick the killers of the policeman who was killed during the Saturday’s Presidential election,” he queried.
“We are asking the IGP (Inspector- General of Police ), not only to transfer the State Police Commissioner for the period of this election, but to also ensure that those who killed that policeman are brought to book within the shortest period possible. And those who stones Mr President at the stadium, should also be arrested.
“We are finally asking President Muhammadu Buhari who has said in his acceptance speech that he is going to strengthen security, to also make sure that soldiers are dispatch to Ogun state. We are not saying they should be at polling booths, but they should be at strategic places to take care of any trouble makers because the intelligence report we have is that violence would be carried out in the presence of police officers who will not do anything”.
