Five of the six All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Ogun State on Sunday petitioned heads of security agencies in the state, alleging that some security agents in connivance with some politicians had hatched plans to “intimidate, harrass and kidnap” some of their (aspirants) supporters.
Those who signed the five- paragraph petition which was made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the State capital were Senator Sefiu Gbenga Kaka, Bimbo Ashiru, Dapo Abiodun, Abayomi S. Hunye and Jimi Lawal.
The petition stated: “We are constrained to write this petition on the unprofessional activities of some security personnel, who were actively engaged and poised to continue with their nefarious activities of intimidation, harassment, kidnapping and threat to life, such as the kidnapping of Semiu Akintade in Olorunda Ward, Abeokuta North Local Government.”
Accordig to them “Some security personnel have been given a list of our supporters to be arrested and detained on trump up charges so as to remove them from circulation during the electioneering process “.
They also alleged that the intended security breach is been perpetrated by the Chairman of one of the transport unions in the State from Lagos.
They therefore requested for “timely intervention and immediate remedial action to prevent breakdown of law and order and safeguard today’s rescheduled governorship primaries.”
Among those copies of the petition were sent to were Department of State Security (DSS), Commissioner of Police, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Army.
