He said the platform is to institutionalise the strategy of community policing as well as strengthen community safety through robust public partnership between the police and the people.

Edgal explained that the center is opened 24/7 for the people to report any distress call.

He also released 10 numbers to the public. The numbers are 070819770735, 07083817391, 08189009113, 08164684395, 08058701189, 08058701143, 08060148672, 07080154562, 08064741658 and 08064071875.

The police boss stressed that the police management team are doing all their best to rebrand the police.

His words: ” We are here to serve and to protect. I mentioned that my own policing philosophy is community policing and safety partnerships and one important element of community policing is that word partnership and of course You cannot have partnership with people if they have lost trust and confidence in you.

” And everybody knows that the Nigerian police management are doing all they can to rebrand the police force and they are achieving positive result in this direction.

One of the things that we must do to win back trust and confidence from the people is to report police misconduct to us”.

On police misconduct, the commissioner said, “We are aware that we have bad eggs among us just like we have good ones, so we want to flush out bad ones out of the system.

“That is why I said that I am going to launch the citizens complaint hot center and I am happy to inform that I have set it up.

” It is a center opened 24/7 so as to report the activities of my men. If you see anyone who is misbehaving, just call any of the numbers either in your local egba dialect, English, Hausa or Igbo. I want to assure you that your complaint will be taken and actions will be carried out.

” I want to assure you that I will sanction any erring officer. Any policeman or woman who asks you for money before your matter is being taken just call the number. If your right is being infringed by police, just call any of the numbers.

“The purpose of this platform is to identify the police men who don’t want to key into our vision” , he said.
