Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two dismissed military personnel and three others in connection with diverting truck loaded with groundnut oil worth N13 Million.
The State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal paraded the suspects alongside 11 armed robbers today at the command headquarters, Ikeja. According to the CP, the five man highway robbers who specialized in interception and diverting Lorries laden goods were arrested along the Sagamu expressway by team of operatives who acted on tip off.
The truck, marked LSR 266 XW loaded with 25 kilograms of groundnut oil, was presented to a cross section of the media during the parade of the suspectd.
The fake soldiers were caught wearing army camouflage uniform but, after screening, it was revealed that two were earlier dismissed from service, while the third person was an impostor. The remaining two suspects are the driver and conductor of the truck.
The identity card recovered from the two dismissed soldiers revealed one Akintola Abiodun with 13/NAF/89/8911 a lance corporal and 13NA/69/8911 lance corporal Moses the both were dismissed from the Nigerian Air force and Army respectively but have been using their uniforms and military identity cards to perpetrate heinous crimes across the country.
Also paraded alongside the fake soldiers include eight persons linked with the killing of a Police Sergeant recently at Ifako – Ijaiye and three other suspected armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents of Okokomaiko area of the State.
Imohimi urged parents and guardians to always advise their wards to shun cultism and keeping of bad association that could lead them to crime.
