Sultan, at Auchi Day celebration, advises clerics to preach love and peace

Islamic clerics should not to relent in preaching the tenets of peace, tolerance and non violence despite the denominational differences and challenges.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, gave the charge on Tuesday at the Auchi day annual celebration.

The Sultan, who was represented by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, Emir of Keffi, said Muslims must learn to seek for knowledge as prophetically prescribed so as to understand the reality of situation and know how to tackle ugly phenomenon.

The Sultan stressed that Islamic knowledge is good and supreme, since it helps us to understand what is demanded of us and how to go about preaching and teachings about Islamic religion as well as ensuring that superior morality is sine-qua non which all Muslims should seek to produce.

Abubakar also lamented what he called the half-baked religious personnel  who, through their messages, fan the ember of crisis across the country.

“Let me express my lamentation on the aspect of “Da’awah” or evangelism that are carried out by half-baked religious personnel in Nigeria that has caused a lot of disaffection.

“It is on record, that they preach provocation which is totally unacceptable in Islam and that is why, the Most High, emphasized wisdom and fair preaching as in Surah An-Nahl16:125”, he said.

He said Christians and Muslims must respect the beliefs of each other and no one should be forced against his will to accept any religion.

He further called on Muslims to shun all forms of electoral malpractices and barbaric acts but to ensure that their voting power is wisely use by voting the right person of their choice and the right party that is determined to upgrade their well being.

He called on Nigerians to support the resent government in its fight against insecurity and corruption adding that God hated all forms of injustice.

His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, called on Nigerians to use all that they have been endowed with by God to serve humanity stressing that dust we were created from and to it shall  all mortals return.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, said his government is committed to doing work of God by serving humanity.

Obaseki who was represented by his Deputy, Philip Shuaibu, the government has put in more of the state resources in the development of human and infrastructural development of the state.
