Tottenham Hotspur under-23s coach Ugo Ehiogu has been taken to hospital after collapsing at the Hotspur Way training ground on Thursday, the club have said.
Former Aston Villa and England defender Ehiogu, 44, received treatment from Spurs doctors before being transferred to hospital.
The club wrote on their official Twitter account: “We can confirm that Ugo Ehiogu is currently in hospital after collapsing at our training centre earlier today.
“Our under-23s coach received immediate treatment on site from our medical staff before being transferred to hospital by ambulance.
“Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Ugo and his family. We shall continue to provide updates when we have further information.”
Ehiogu, who also played for West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough, won the League Cup on three occasions and earned four England caps, scoring once.
He retired from playing in 2009 and was appointed as Spurs’ full-time under-21 coach in July 2014, shortly after Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment as head coach.
