Men of the Ogun State Police command have arrested a 32-year old man, Julius Oliseh for stabbing to death 23-year old Isikilu Shittu to death at a burial ceremony at Ogunru village via Mowe.
The suspect, according to a statement issued by the command’s Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi was arrested after the brother of the victim, Akeem Shittu reported the case at the Mowe police station.
Oyeyemi said the complainant revealed that suspect broke a bottle and stabbed the victim on the neck with it over an undisclosed minor matter which resulted to the victim’s death on the spot
Upon the report, Oyeyemi said, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Mowe division, Francis Ebhuoma led his men to the scene where the suspect, who had been struggling to escape, was promptly arrested and taken to the station for interrogation.
Oyeyemi disclosed that the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the general hospital morgue in the area for autopsy.
The state Commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for proper investigation and prosecution.
He also warned that the command would not tolerate any act of hooliganism capable of sending innocent people to untimely death, noting that human life is sacred.
Illiyasu therefore assured the general public that the suspect in this case will face the full wrath of the law so as to serve as deterrent to others.
