The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on Thursday reiterated that, the Adire /Kampala fabrics will remain a global brand with its uniqueness.
He said looking at the rush for the fabrics both locally and international, it shows the it is widely acceptable.
Alake spoke when the popular Itoku Adire/Kampala designers and marketers paid him homage at his Ake palace as part of activities lined up to commemorate this year’s Adire Cultural Festival.
Receiving the Market women on behalf of the Alake, thee Bantun of Egbaland, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa commended the marketers for sustaining the quality and uniqueness of the Adire/Kampala fabrics.
Alake maintained that, the uniqueness of the fabrics has placed Abeokuta, Ogun State on world map for best producers of the fabrics as well as centre of attraction for tourists across the world.
His words: “I want to felicitate with you on the auspicious occasion of your Adire cultural festival. Your job is unique to the people.
“The uniqueness of the Adire cloth has transcend beyond Egbaland and has put the state onto world map for tourists who came visiting the state “.
While responding, the Iyaloja Kemta, Itoku Adire/Kampala Trader Association, Alhaja Sadiat Akamo assured Alake that the traders would continue to improve on the Adire fabrics.
Alhaja Akamo commended the support of Alake for promoting the Adire fabrics to the world, urging the state government to provide a shopping complex to accommodate the traders.
“Adire/Kampala in Egba has been in an existence for centuries which must not be perish in our time, because we inherit it from our great parents. We urged the government to construct a shopping complex that will accommodate all of us in a particular place, ” he concluded.
