The earthly remains of former governor of Oyo State, the late Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi has been laid to rest. He died last week of complications from COVID-19.
The janazah prayer and burial took place at the Oluyole Estate residence of the deceased. The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh Abdul Ganiyu Agbotomokekere around 10am. The family had initially announced a 12noon burial time, but this was just a decoy to prevent a mammoth crowd attending the burial, a source said.
The burial was also not done at the Ajimobi Mosque as earlier announced for the same reason. Very few people, made up of all the children and the widow, witnessed the burial.
The lecture and special prayer for the deceased started at 12noon at the Ajimobi Mosque. Alh Muyideen Ajani Bello is scheduled to give the sermon while other Imams including the Imam of Ibadan Ansarudeen Dr Bashir Olanrewaju would pray for the repose of the soul of Alhaj Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi.
A large crow gathered outside the Ajimobi Mosque awaiting the body, not realizing that the body was already buried.
