Two key events associated with, and directly involving physical participation by Professor Wole Soyinka, have been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Organisers of the World Poetry Day and the presentation of ‘Beyond Aesthetics’ events said they will inform of new dates in the future. The World Poetry day, with the theme: voices in the cause of the Earth, said it was cancelling in light of the directive from the Lagos State government banning gatherings including more than 50 people.
Bookcraft, in its notice on the postponement of the presentation of Prof Soyinka’s book, Beyond Aesthetics, said ‘in light of the recent statement of the Lagos State governor on large gatherings, Bookcraft Books jointly with Prof Soyinka has decide to take the painful decision to postpone the event indefinitely. It was originally scheduled to take place next Thursday.’
