Edo professor’s whereabouts unknown, 3 months after abduction

Three months and two weeks after he was abducted by unknown gunmen from his Igbanke community in Orhionmwon local government area of Edo state, the whereabouts of Dr Paul Erie, an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Faculty of Agriculture, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, still remains unknown.

However, two suspects said to have been arrested by the police in connection with the lecturer’s disappearance, were said to have later led the police to their camp in a bush bordering Orhionmwon and Igueben local government areas in Edo South and Central Senatorial Districts.

It was further learnt that other suspects at the camp reportedly escaped, resulting in the special anti-kidnapping squad of the state police command taking over the area in search of the suspects.

As at the time of filling report, the state police command’s spokesman, DSP Stephen Onwochei, said he could not confirm the development but would find out and get back to the press.

It would be recalled that Dr. Erie, a palace chief, was said to have visited home when he was kidnapped by gunmen who also took away unspecified amount of cash and electronics gadgets from his apartment.
