Kannywood’s Rahama Sadau wins Leadership artiste of the year

Popular Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau was awarded Leadership Artiste of the year 2017 by the Leadership Newspaper Group.

The award was announced at the Leadership 2017 Awards on Thursday in Abuja where a popular movie producer, Uzee Usman received the award for her.

The 24 year-old Kaduna born actress, model and television personality had features in numerous Hausa language films and a number of English movies.

Kannywood is the Hausa speaking moving industry in the northern party of Nigeria.

She came to limelight after her first leading role in the movie “Gani Ga Wane’’ alongside popular Kannywood Star, Ali Nuhu.

Sadau from the family of five has earned many accolades, which include “Face of Kannywood’’ at the City people Entertainment Awards in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

In October 2016, she was reportedly banned from Kannywood for featuring in a romantic musical video by a musician “Classique’’ which was said to be against the ethics of the Hausa film industry.

However, the ban was later lifted.

In 2017, she became the first Hausa speaking female celebrity to appear in the top ten Hottest Female Nigeria Celebrities.

In same year Sadau produced a blockbuster movie `Rariya’ under her Production Company, `Sadau Pictures’.

It featured popular actors like Ali Nuhu, Sadiq Sani, Fati Washa, Usman Ycee and others.

`Rariya’ is the first movie from Kannywood that was shown in cinemas across some states in the country.

Sadau, the only female kannywood actress with over 600,000 followers on Instagram featured in a recent television series “Sons of the Caliphate’’ which the season two is currently undergoing production.

Similarly, with over 90,000 followers on Twitter, her popularity extends beyond Nigeria to other countries like India, U.S., UK, Ghana, Niger, Cameroon and others.

Sadau established a charity and humanitarian organisation “Ray of Hope’’ where she visits internally displaced persons’ camps to offer support and aid.

With all those achievements, it is not doubt that she sure deserves to be the leadership artiste of the year.
