A popular Kannywood actress and social media blogger, Sadiya Haruna, has been sentenced following her arraignment on Monday by Kano State Hisbah Board over alleged frequent posting of sexual materials on her social media accounts.

The actress, a resident of Kabuga Quarters, was first invited on Friday by the Head of Kano State Hisbah Board’s Surveillance Department, Malam Aliyu Usman.

Subsequently, she was detained by the Islamic police until early Monday when she was taken before a Sharia court in the Sharada district of the state.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed against her, Sadiya was accused of frequently posting obscene videos on her social media handles and YouTube channel where she was filmed dancing seductively and making sexual comments.

A dejected Sadiya plead guilty to the single charge of obscenity and indecent act, which is in violation of Penal Code Law 2000 section 355.

The sitting judge, Justice Ali Jibril Danzaki, found her guilty and ordered her to attend a Darul Hadith Islamiyya session at Tudun Yola Quarters for a period of six months as punishment for her crime.

He further stated that the school’s headteacher and the Hisbah leadership will be monitoring her Islamiyya attendance
