National Judicial Councils asks Onnoghen to answer another EFCC petition within 7 days

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed another petition against Justice W.S.N. Onnoghen and the National Judicial Council (NJC) has asked the Chief Justice of Nigeria to respond to this within seven days.

At its emergency meeting held on Tuesday, the NJC constituted a Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee, in accordance with Regulation 17 of the National Judicial Council Judicial Discipline Regulations, 2017 and report to Council on the 13th of February 2019.

According to Soji Oye, Director (Information) at the NJC, today’s meeting was to consider the responses of Onnoghen and Justice I.T. Muhammad, CFR to the three petitions written against them.

The Council will reconvene on Wednesday, 13th February, 2019 to review the assessment committee’s report.

The council reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of Justice Umaru Abdullahi, CON and continues under his Interim Chairmanship.
