Adekunle Adeyemi, an associate of former Governor of Ogun state, Chief Segun Osoba, today denied report that Osoba has been ordering around the Governor – elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun on issues bothering on his cabinet and House speakership.
Adeyemi was reacting to a story written by an online news medium, Platform Times, which read in parts “Palpable crisis is currently gathering momentum in the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state, most especially among the trio of the Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun ; former Governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and the Lagos west senator, Olamilekan Adeola popularly called Yayi”.
Adeyemi, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, as a rejoinder, described the report as a fake, untrue and malicious.
He said the report was written to malign the person of Osoba, adding that it was “to cause palpable fear and distrust among the members of the public who trusted and believed in the examplary leadership of the elder statesman in Ogun State”.
Adeyemi insisted that with the experience of the former Governor, he would never do anything to undermine the Governor – elect and the operations of the office.
The statement states: “Meanwhile, to put the record straight and to correct the negative impression the publication was meant to create, Chief Olusegun Osoba is a man who has seen it all as a two-time Governor in Ogun State and a man who perfectly understands the running and operation of the Office of the Governor and the personality of a Governor and cannot undermine the person elected to occupy the office in Ogun State.
“Also, Prince Dapo Abiodun was chosen by APC members and people of Ogun State because he has the capacity to occupy the position without being tossed around aimlessly by anybody. Chief Osoba has never for any reason, before, during and after electioneering process, ordered the Governor-elect around on any issue or subject matter.
“Furthermore, on the issue of who becomes what, in the yet to be formed government, the sponsors of the story seem to be uncomfortable with the caliber of progressive minded personalities being assembled by the Governor-elect and the Party, APC, to uplift Ogun State to next level from the present abysmal position and is already causing panic and tremor in their camp as Ogun State is about to witness unimaginable progress and rejuvenation in all areas of endeavors.
He adds: ” The writer and his sponsors should be reminded that Prince Dapo Abiodun has been in position to manage men and resources in his private life successfully before venturing into politics to apply the success techniques in the affairs of Ogun State, which by the special grace of God, he shall succeed”.
On the issue of the Assembly’s speakership, Adeyemi stated “Chief Osoba is not an elected member of the Ogun State House of Assembly and therefore does not have the power to impose any member on the whole house to become the leader or speaker of the yet to be inaugurated Assembly. As a progressive, Chief Osoba will support whoever the members of the Assembly choose to lead them in the next dispensation for the progress of the State”.
Speaking on the current political atmosphere, he said, “We however, advice any person, groups or organization not to make any attempt to set Ogun state ablaze because of political affiliation, association or aspiration, as peace and harmony is gradually returning to the landscape of Ogun State”.
Adeyemi sais he is giving the media outfit a seven-day ultimatum to tender apology or face legal action.
The statement states “Finally, we warn the writer and the online media outfit to withdraw the story and tender unreserved apology to Chief Olusegun Osoba within seven days of this rejoinder or legal action shall be instituted against the writer and the media outfit”.
