While thanking God, the Creator of every living being, everywhere for the gift of life and the return of consciousness, the thought kept reverberating as to whether man has the capacity to destroy God’s created creation.
One may be tempted to ask why should such thought ever oozed to mind?
But yes it did ,when considering the immensity of the works of God in creation which no mortal flesh in his finite being, so infinitesimal to approach and explain but could only admit in multiple manifestations shrouded in mystery.
To further revere the kindness of Almighty Allah has He imbued His omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient attributes in creation, I became inclined to ruminate on what the Rosicrucian sages of old aptly submit as follows:
That “The noblest employment of the mind of man, is the study of the works of his Creator.”
Furtherance to this, ” To him whom the science of nature delighteth, every object bringeth a proof of God; everything that proveth it, giveth cause of adoration.
His mind is lifted up to heaven every moment; his life is one continued act of devotion”. ( Unto Thee I Grant, August 1979: 85-86).
With this in mind I joined our Muslim brethren to say Allahu Akbar.
God, Almighty Allah shall remain ever great but we all are required to worship Him in purity of hearts, truth and seek for forgiveness this holy month of Ramadan.
We need all discard religious politics, politicised religion that now have escalated into terrorism, banditry, kidnapping , virulent ethno- racial skirmishes of war and their rumours.
Corruption of all sorts are daily taking tolls the lives of citizens, staining the “integrities” if any, of rulers and leaders, the lords spiritual and temporal, the governing government as well as the generality of those being governed.
Deaths of all kinds both minimal and maximal in thuggery, wanton arson and destruction to lives and properties, inter-ethnic and religious infernos seem attesting to how degenerate we all have been no matter how fervent and lay claim to our religious observances.
On this note we need to realize that religious observances without the kernel of spiritual truth is merely tantamount to “Will ! O the Wisp”.
Similarly as this holy month of Ramadan is being observed, celebrated and upheld as another annual ritual entrusted to adherents by Prophet Mohammed(SAW), may we also note that:
” In pure and holy heart the true mosque is built and not the one built of stone”.
We thank the Almighty Allah for letting us all members of same humanity witness this holy month of Ramadan Kareem, may this holy month yield us into true penitence as we reflect and meditate on the under listed prayerful admonition:
“But seek with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of lawful enjoyment in this world; and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah likes not the Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischiefs makers, corrupters).” Q28:77.
May Allah (SWT) accept all our supplications and forgive our shortcomings in this holy month of Ramadan. Jumaa kareem…
