A gang of heavily armed terrorists have attacked the Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria in Kaduna State, abducting scores of students and lecturers in the institution.
Security source revealed that the gunmen invaded the school, located along the Zaria-Kaduna Expressway, last night.
The daring attack came hours after President Buhari said during an ARISETV interview that he had given security agencies the order to crush armed groups operating in the country.
“The gunmen attacked the school last night. Unspecified numbers of students and lecturers were said to have been abducted,” said a witness.
Kaduna has witnessed several cases of mass abduction of tertiary institution students in the recent times, with Kaduna College of Forestry and Greenfield University being being the targets in the past. Parents of students of these institutions paid hundreds of millions of naira to secure their release.
